The competition invites original case studies in the areas of business and management in an Indian setting. Participants can enter their case either in the General Category or in any one of the Special Categories based on the predominant focus of the case.
General Category cases would be those which focus on any of the following areas:

Focus: Analysis of marketing topics such as consumer behaviour, target markets, adaptation of products to markets, channels of distribution, pricing policy and marketing communications, including advertising and social networking.

Focus: Any aspect of innovation in manufacturing of a product or innovative processes utilised by companies to bring in disruptive products that changed consumer perception. The products may pertain to any domain or consumer sector in manufacturing, such as “green technology” or “bottom of the pyramid,” but should be in an Indian setting. Cases dealing with either successes or failures are both welcome.

Focus: Identification of unique elements of strategies developed by firms doing business in India with a view to illuminating strategies likely to increase shareholder value. Cases dealing specifically with corporate finance should emphasise choices made by management with a view to maximising value to long-term shareholders. Firms selected as the subject of a case must be listed on a stock exchange in India or abroad. Cases featuring firms in the asset management industry are especially welcome.

Focus: The impact of Information and Communication Technology across multiple dimensions in a corporate value chain, not only productivity and capital deepening at the firm level, which are well-known, but also its linkage to transformative business models and societal impact, which are still being documented. Critical to realising these benefits is a superior understanding of design, ownership, seeding and sustenance of the massive agglomeration of technology, people, organisational practices, policies and norms. This is especially true in developing nations where usage of ICT also brings the value proposition of affordability. Cases that explore these dimensions through the innovative use and deployment of ICT that leads to the transformation of traditional business/ government models and drives socio-economic impact are welcome.

Focus: Any of the several aspects of entrepreneurs or the entrepreneurship ecosystem. Cases on entrepreneurs could be on motivational aspects, financing challenges, new product development, technology and innovation, technology commercialisation, ethical and responsible entrepreneurship and can cover one or more aspects of entrepreneurship. Cases that explore the above dimensions, which lead to the transformation of business models and drive socio-economic impact are welcome.
Note: Cases entered for any of the Special Categories are also eligible for evaluation in the General Category. In the evaluation process, if any of the Special Categories’ winning case emerges as the overall winner in the General Category, it would not be eligible for both prizes. Such a case would be declared the overall General Category winner and the next best case within the Special Category would be declared the winner for that category.
