ISB-Ivey Case Writing Workshop 2013

About Workshop

The MBA classroom has progressively moved from being lecture-based to one that is more student-centred and participant-oriented. Internationally, case studies have become a preferred form of teaching as students demand an active role in their own learning. Cases that help students emulate the role of a practicing manager and provide a forum for exciting class discussion, are increasingly becoming popular with teachers and students.

In its endeavour to promote effective learning and teaching with cases, the Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Case Development (CTLC) at the Indian School of Business (ISB) is hosting a three day Case Writing Workshop from May 4-6, 2013 at ISB’s Mohali campus. The workshop is co-hosted with Richard Ivey School of Business (Ivey), University of Western Ontario.

Conducted by Dr Ariff Kachra from Ivey, the intensive three-day workshop will cover the fundamentals of case writing. The objective is to give participants the necessary tools to write cases in the Indian business context and inspire them to use more cases as teachers. Post-workshop, the cases can be submitted to the ISB-Ivey Global Case Competition 2014, which will be announced in January 2014. These cases will be judged by a panel of internationally acclaimed subject experts and each case will receive detailed feedback from the judges. Cases selected for publication as co-branded ISB-Ivey cases will receive extensive mentorship from CTLC and Ivery to help case authors get their case ready for publishing.
