Anand Nandkumar, Assistant Professor of Strategy at the ISB explores industry and firm level phenomena that influence innovation – the generation of new ideas and entrepreneurship – distribution and commercialization of new ideas. His research focuses on high technology industries such as pharmaceuticals, bio-technology and software, and it falls in between industrial organisation (IO), economics of technological change and strategy. Professor Nandkumar current work in the innovation stream examines the effect of stronger IPR on different aspects of innovation such as the influence of stronger patents on long run incentives for innovation or the influence of stronger patents on the functioning of Markets for Technology (MFT). In the entrepreneurship stream, his current work examines the influence of venture capitalists on entrepreneurial performance. 

Professor Nandkumar graduated with a PhD in Public Policy and Management, with a focus in strategy and entrepreneurship from Carnegie Mellon University in 2008. Prior to his PhD, he worked for about 3 years with a startup in the Silicon Valley and prior to that in New York City with one of the world’s largest financial services firm. True to his expertise, at the ISB, Professor Nandkumar teaches Strategic Innovation Management and Strategic Challenges for Innovation based startups.

Anitesh Barua is the William F. Wright Centennial Professor of Information Technology, Stevens Piper Foundation Professor of 2001, University of Texas Distinguished Teaching Professor, Bureau of Business Research Fellow, and Associate Director of the Center for Research in Electronic Commerce at the McCombs School of Business, the University of Texas at Austin. 

Dr. Barua’s research has been sponsored by both government and private organizations including the National Science Foundation, Cisco Systems, Dell Computer, Ernst & Young, IBM Research, Intel Corporation and Sprint. Over 50 of his research articles have appeared in refereed journals, conference proceedings and edited book chapters. He is an Associate Editor of Management Science, IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics, Information Systems Research, Electronic Commerce Research, MIS Quarterly, and the Journal of Organizational Computing. 

Dr. Barua has received many awards for his research and teaching, including the William W. Cooper Doctoral Dissertation Award from Carnegie Mellon University in 1991, National Science Foundation Research Initiation Award in 1992, the University of Texas College of Business Administration (CBA) Foundation Teaching Award in 1994, ANBAR Citation Excellence in 1997, the CBA Teaching Innovation award in 1999, membership in the University of Texas Academy of Distinguished Teachers in 2000, the El Paso Energy Foundation Faculty Award in 2000, and the Minnie Stevens Piper Professorship in 2001.

Dr Anupam Khanna has had a long and distinguished career in economic policy. He spent thirty years with the World Bank in Washington DC, the last five as Senior Manager (Director), Policy Support. Between 2000-2003 Anupam was Chief Economist for the Royal Dutch/Shell Group based in London, United Kingdom. He also lived in Beijing to set up the World Bank’s Resident Mission in China. Earlier he was the Senior Advisor to the Chief Economist (Joseph Stiglitz) of the World Bank and also served as the Special Assistant to the President during 1989-91.

Anupam's rich professional experience spans all continents and several sectors including technology, industry, energy, telecommunications, urban development especially in major emerging markets, notably Brazil, China, Kenya, Nigeria, Philippines and, of course, India. He led several studies in India like on technological innovation in manufacturing that contributed to significant policy reforms.

Anupam is currently Principal Adviser to the high-level National Transport Development Policy Committee charged by the Prime Minister to develop a long-term strategy covering for transport in India through 2030. Since returning to India in 2009 he has also been Senior Advisor to the President of the Global Development Network and serves on advisory groups for policy research in India and the UK.

Anupam graduated with distinction at the top of his class in 1974 from IIT Kanpur which recently conferred him a Distinguished Alumnus. He holds a Ph.D. and two M.S. degrees in from Stanford University in California. He has also been a visiting fellow at Oxford University researching global governance and international business regulation.

Anuradha Bhamidipaty has been with IBM's India Research Lab for over 9 years and currently manages the services delivery research agenda. Her work is focused on processes and techniques to automate and streamline service execution in IBM's large scale IT delivery organization. More recently, she is looking at approaches for accelerating the dev and deployment of automation content in delivery environments. She has over 20 patent applications and is an IBM Master Inventor.

Deepa Mani is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems, Research Fellow and the Joint Executive Directors of SRITNE at the Indian School of Business (ISB). Her research interests lie in the organisation and value of outsourcing relationships, the impact of IT on firm value and the productivity and impact of IT on society. She is interested in studying the nature of technology-enabled product and process innovations, identifying the managerial capabilities and interventions required of these innovations, and estimating the role of these capabilities in explaining variation in the long-term financial value of firms. Outsourcing is an important process innovation that has been the focus of her research, in particular issues of governance, contract management and compliance, including their role in explaining heterogeneity in the strategic value created by outsourcing initiatives. Her research has been published or is forthcoming in journals such as MIS Quarterly, MIS Quarterly Executive and Sloan Management Review.

She holds a PhD in Information Systems from the University of Texas at Austin and an MS degree in Information Systems from Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to this she completed her PGDMA from the University of Mumbai and BA (Honors) in Mathematics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University.

Dheeraj Batra is a serial entrepreneur and intrapreneur having launched several companies independently as well as for large institutions. Among other things, he is the Co-Founder of Arogya Finance, a financing venture which lends to those who are unable to afford to pay for their of their family's healthcare expenses.

Until recently, Dheeraj was the Head of Business Design, India at IDEO, where he was part of a core team of people which helped establish the office in India. Prior to IDEO, Dheeraj worked at Innosight Ventures where he was focused on building businesses in India. He led and was part of several ventures that cut across a wide range of industries from logistics to financial services to medical devices.

Dheeraj holds an MBA from the Wharton Business School and BS degrees in both Finance and Computer Science from the University of Maryland. He works and lives at ISB in Hyderabad with his wife and their two children.

Habeeb Mahaboob is a Vice President and Principal Consultant with Business Value Enhancement Consulting, the consulting practice of Tech Mahindra. In his current role, Habeeb works with clients to bring significant and sustainable improvement in performance of enterprises. Habeeb’s clients have relied on his in-depth understanding of organization structure, processes, their impact on results and change management to achieve these improvements. Hufrish Majra is Assistant Professor in Marketing at School of Business Management at NMIMS, Mumbai . She is a B.A. ( Economics) and a PGDRM from NMIMS ( 1998- 2000). She joined Pidilite Industries Ltd and worked there for six years in both domestic and international markets . Her last assignment at Pidilite was of a Section Head in the International Business Division. She joined NMIMS in 2006 as a Research Associate in the areas of Family Business and Services Management . In 2009 she moved to become a faculty in the area of Marketing. Her areas of expertise are Integrated Marketing Communications , Service Marketing and Cross-Cultural marketing. She has submitted her dissertation titled “ Antecedents of Customer Experience in India: A study of the Airline Industry” at NMIMS .

Inderjith Davalur is currently the Group CIO of Global Hospitals Group, Hyderabad, India. He did his MBA and then MS in Healthcare Administration from the University of Massachusetts, USA and has worked for over 20 years in the US since 1986. He was conferred the Dean Shalloup’s Award for Academic Excellence in Health Professions for having scored the highest rank in the College of Health Professions His background has exclusively been in healthcare IT and has served on patient privacy and electronic health record committees in the US. He started his career in health care at the New England Medical Center in Boston where he created a custom database for tracking treatment modalities for the Department of Psychiatry. He then moved on to a private healthcare firm that managed Psych units at fourteen hospitals spread over four states in New England. He has created Treatment Outcomes database and worked as the MIS Director. He was also the CEO of Aosta Software Technologies.

Dr Jai Advani is the North America Analytics Lead at Accenture focused on Communication, Media and Hi-Tech (CMT) industry. He has over 15 years of experience in building and leading large teams across different analytics areas like customer analytics, marketing analytics, sales/channel analytics, digital analytics, etc. Recently, he has been actively involved in building new capability areas like network analytics, big data analytics, and data monetization offerings for Accenture. Dr. Advani also leads the capability development and training for the Accenture delivery team at Accenture and drives Communities of Practice (CoP) for open source analytics tools.

Prior to Accenture, Dr. Advani spent more than 6.5 years at Hewlett-Packard where he was instrumental in building the research and analytics capability across HP’s businesses.

Dr. Advani has a Doctorate from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and Bachelors from MS University, Vadodara. He has also published several papers in international journals and conferences and has been a guest faculty at several Management Schools.

Kamal Karlapalem is Dean (Academics) and Professor at IIIT, Hyderabad and is Head of Centre for Data Engineering. He was involved in design and adaptation of new curriculum at IIIT in 2008. He is proponent of learning for the long-term in higher education  institutions. He has PhD in computer science from Georgia Tech, and was a faculty member at HKUST before joining IIIT in 2000.

His career contributions span internet-led transformations in cellphone, publishing and computing incl. introduction of Motorola’s VIAMOTO – one of the first voice navigation on cellphone and RAZR Maxx V6 - first 3.5G device (now part of Google offering), then led cross-border setup for Ingram’s mPublishing apps startup in '07 & since contributed to introduction of Microsoft’s WINDOWS AZURE IaaS as part of hybrid IT in enterprise.
               
Prashant received Masters in Engineering from Univ. of Florida, MBA in Marketing from Northwestern’s Kellogg & is a recipient of IEEE Larry K Wilson Award, Lt. Raghu Krishnapuram received his B. Tech degree from IIT-Bombay and his Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. From 1987 to 2000, he served as a faculty member at the University of Missouri, Columbia, and Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado. Dr. Krishnapuram joined IBM Research - India in 2000. His research encompasses many aspects of analytics, optimization, computational intelligence, and data mining. He has published over 160 papers in journals and conferences in these areas. He is currently Associate Director, Knowledge, Information, and Smarter Planet Solutions, IBM Research - India, where he is leading research projects in the areas of information management, smarter planet solutions, machine learning and cognitive computing, with a particular focus on offerings for emerging markets. Dr. Krishnapuram is an IEEE Fellow, and a member of IBM's Technology Council of the IBM Academy of Technology. He has authored over 160 conference & journal publication, and over 36 disclosures.

Rajeev Mendiratta, based in Bangalore, heads the Workforce Management Group for Wipro’s global IT business. The initiatives are innovative but are built on scientifically and statistically derived data from the organization. A popular and dynamic leader, Rajeev has been instrumental in driving the operational efficiency at Wipro through talent supply chain transformation.

In his earlier role, as the head of Process Excellence consulting group at Wipro, Rajeev was associated very closely with the CXO layer of some of Wipro’s global clients in an advisory capacity. The group provides consulting services to its clients in the areas of Business Process Re-engineering, IT Strategy & Governance, Transformation for IT Build and IT Operations .

Prior to joining Wipro, Rajeev worked with GE and as a Black Belt was involved in many associated Six Sigma initiatives – including Six Sigma implementation for GE India Business Centre, transformation of new product introduction process at GE-Industrial System, creating and rolling out the methodology for ‘Designing for Six Sigma in Software’.

Ramesh Loganathan, with over 20 years of Products & R&D leadership experience, is the Center Head at Progress Software’s Hyderabad Labs. Ramesh leads the largest engineering group in the company driving product development across product lines. With focus on cross-product frameworks, cloud/application platforms, and data integration. Before joining Progress Software, Ramesh was VP of Middleware Technologies at Pramati Technologies. 

Ramesh, a regarded evangelist, speaks regularly at various tech workshops/seminars on contemporary technologies in the cloud and integration space. He is active in the industry associations and a member of the managing/executive committees of Nasscom, ITsAP, HeadStart, and TiE.  He is also an adjunct faculty member at IIIT, Hyderabad, where he teaches few courses on middleware technologies. He is also a visiting faculty at IIT Hyderabad. Ramesh actively engages with academic incubators at several leading institutions in Hyderabad, and is Chair of TiE Startups. Ramesh has co-authored a book- SOA approach to Integration.

Mayuri Duggirala joined IBM Research in 2011 where her research focuses on learning in organizations, education analytics, technology adoption and usability in emerging economies. She received a PhD (Management) from IIT Madras in 2010, with a focus on technology-mediated learning effectiveness. Her earlier research has focused on quality in healthcare and IT-enabled services.

Milind Sohoni is currently an Associate Professor of Operations Management at the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad, India. Professor Sohoni’s other academic appointments include visiting positions at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. His research spans large-scale robust airline optimization, information sharing, incentive design and competition in supply chain management, and operations management in emerging economies. He has published several research articles in top-tier, refereed, academic journals including Management Science, Operations Research, Production and Operations Management, and Transportation Science. His research has received attention within the academic and business communities and has also received several awards from various academic and practitioner societies such as POMS, M&SOM, INFORMS, and AGIFORS. Professor Sohoni was also a recipient of the global IBM Faculty award in 2013.

Apart from academic experience, Professor Sohoni also has several years of corporate experience in OR consulting and research. Prior to joining the ISB, he was a research advisor with the R&D group at Delta Technology, a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Air Lines, Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to that, he worked with the Advanced Decision Support Systems group at AT&T Bell Labs in Holmdel, New Jersey, and Ryder Dedicated Logistics, Miami, Florida.

Professor Sohoni holds a Ph.D. in Operations Research from the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology.

Naveen is the COO & Co-founder of Gramener, handles Sales & Operations of the firm and proud recipient of Lufthansa Pioneering Spirit Award-2012. Naveen is a seasoned executive with deep experience in industry that has predominantly been in the consulting and outsourcing arena. He has been with IBM for a decade in various  Tech Consulting roles  in North America and held  strategic leadership roles at Birlasoft. He has been responsible for delivering number of complex technology led business transformation programs for Financial Services.

Nishtha Langer is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. Professor Langer's research looks at the economics of Human Capital and the business value of Information Technology (IT). She is interested in empirically analyzing how firms can use their IT and human assets most effectively. She has partnered with leading Indian IT service providers to research on optimum allocation of project managers to outsourcing projects.

Her research has been forthcoming or published at top tier journals, including Management Science, Information Systems Research, and Interfaces, and widely presented and acclaimed by both academic and industry audience. She has been associate editor and program committee member for prestigious conferences and workshops such as International Conference of Information Systems (ICIS), Workshop on Information Systems and Economics (WISE), and INFORMS Conference on Information Systems and Technology (CIST).

Prior to joining ISB, Dr. Langer worked as a Systems Analyst at Arbella Insurance, Boston, MA and as a Systems Engineer at Tata Infotech Ltd., India (now part of Tata Consultancy Services). She holds a Bachelor in Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering, Delhi and an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Management (with specialization in Information Systems) from the Tepper School of Business, Carnegie Mellon University.

Nimesh Mehta is a researcher at the Dr. Reddy’s Cell for Employability and Skill Development at the Indian School of Business (ISB). As a part of the Centre for Emerging Markets Solutions, he was instrumental in setting the strategic roadmap for the cell. His research areas include developing financing mechanisms for skills training, designing state-level skill-missions and development of low-cost technology based content delivery and certification platforms. His area of research includes studying low-cost business models for K-12 schools and vocational training sectors. He has advised India’s premier chain of international schools to develop their growth agenda and to devise models to enter the middle-income schools segment.

Prior to this, he has worked as a management consultant with Deloitte India in their strategy and operations practice. He specialised in India entry strategy, business planning and business/ operating model design for companies/ government across consumer goods, agriculture and infrastructure. Nimesh holds an MBA from the Indian School of Business. He has also completed his Masters in Commerce and Bachelors in Management Studies from Mumbai University.

Raju Komaravolu heads Corporate Strategy and Branding at Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Hyderabad. During the last 15 months with the company, he has been working closely with Chairman GV Prasad in simplifying business model, leading brand visioning and activation for Dr Reddy's. Raju has over 16 years of experience in Industry and management consulting. Prior to joining Dr Reddy’s, he was an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company. Earlier he worked with ITC Ltd across two businesses – edibles oils and Tobacco in Manufacturing, Projects and CAPEX.

Raju holds a Bachelors in Electrical engineering from NIT Warangal and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.

Raveendra Chittoor is an Assistant Professor of Strategy at the Indian School of Business. His research focuses on the internationalisation strategies of emerging economy firms and the structure and strategies of family business groups in India. Prof. Chittoor’s current research is aimed at understanding how Indian family business groups create value in the firms affiliated to them. Prof. Chittoor has also been spearheading a joint effort by the ISB and Fundacao Dom Cabrall (FDC, a leading business school in Brazil) to systematically rank Indian transnational companies annually using globally accepted, multi-dimensional measures of internationalisation. Prof. Chittoor’s research has been published in leading journals such as Organization ScienceJournal of International Business Studies and Journal of International Management.

Prof. Chittoor has a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and is a Fellow in Management from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. Prior to joining the ISB, he has taught at Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and has industry experience of over twelve years in organizations such as IBM, CRISIL and Mumbai-based Rajan Raheja group. Prof. Chittoor teaches the core competitive strategy course at the ISB and elective courses on strategy implementation and global strategy.

Sameer Dhanrajani is Business Leader at Cognizant Analytics. Sreelata Jonnalagedda is an Assistant Professor in the Marketing department at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. Professor Jonnalagedda teaches Marketing Management and Pricing Strategy, for MBA students as well as to Executives. She has co-developed ‘BrandQuest’, a pricing and positioning simulation for MBA students.

In her research, Professor Jonnalagedda aims to construct a theoretical and empirical basis to understand the incentive structures that drive pricing (on the sellers’ end) and purchase behavior (consumers’ end). Structuring the price of innovative durable products, and understanding howbundles, retail prices and assortment choices influence consumer perceptions are among her research interests. Her wider areas of research include pricing, channel structures, information diffusion (word-of-mouth), and the application of game-theoretical modeling techniques to marketing problems. Her work hasbeen published in leading journals such as Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, and the IIM B Management Review. Professor Jonnalagedda has worked on case studies/consulting engagements on pricing and marketing innovations, including pricing information security products such as Red Force Labs, McAfee, and Purna Organics.

Professor Jonnalagedda holds a PhD from The University of Texas, Austin, a Masters in Transportation from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, and Bachelors in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute ofTechnology, Madras. Prior to completing her Ph.D., she worked as a consultant with Supply Chain Consultants, Inc.
